Our client is seeking a Senior Engineer, Furnace Building who will be in charge of planning, organizing and ensuring the execution of all maintenance and service work of Smelter Plant Furnaces in support of production. The incumbent will act as an SME and the scope  of this role will include improving departmental trouble-shooting and analysis capabilities, proposing solutions and generally enabling the availability of Furnace equipment.


  • Receive assignments in Furnace commissioning and trial operation plans, including mobilisation, organisation & supervision of personnel, stand-alone commissioning plans, and integrated commissioning plans
  • Evaluate, interrogate and master construction-related design plan technical requirements, standards and regulations for construction and related materials in area of expertise
  • Participate in reviews of technical refractory and construction drawings of furnaces, and take part in selection and supplier reviews
  • Prepare, adjust, track and implement respective detailed plans for construction and implementation
  • Participate in on-site production scheduling meetings, and coordinate and cooperate with manufacturers, suppliers, construction teams, contractors in all matters of ordering, delivery, acceptance, installation and testing of equipment and materials, and any problems encountered
  • Communicate with all related groups, including line managers, design unit, related groups etc to address issues, solve problems and update progress
  • Implement and complete the work according to the schedule, ensuring all work is inspected and completed according to agreed standards
  • Participate in the pilot operations of the smelting plant
  • Ensure the development, alignment, mapping and implementation of end-to-end standard operating procedures / processes within area of expertise, and as directed
  • Maintain and update furnace documentation, including inspection, patrol, maintenance and other equipment record ledgers and relevant archiving work
  • Implement and measure equipment debottlenecking projects and processes, including optimization, transformation, and energy saving projects; stand-alone and integrated test-runs
  • Master the operation and installation of the relevant machinery and tools within area of expertise, and propose solutions to major problems






Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in smelting maintenance environment
  • Advanced knowledge on metallurgical operations, control and maintenance and smelting equipment
