Job Description:


Our client, a global leader in controlled environments and safety technologies, is seeking to appoint a Sales Manager who will lead and manage the African Sales Team. The role includes overseeing four Business Development Managers, driving sales success through strategic planning and hands-on customer engagement. The successful person will contribute to departmental budgeting and overall business growth, as well as help shape company direction, uphold corporate values, and foster cross-departmental collaboration.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead business development efforts by identifying and securing new opportunities across Africa.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support and oversee the sales team through mentoring, training, recruitment, and performance reviews.
  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies and annual plans in collaboration with Business Development Managers.
  • Manage the full sales process including lead handling, quoting, negotiations, and CRM database upkeep.
  • Coordinate product commissioning, operator training, and after-sales service to ensure compliance and satisfaction.
  • Drive sales targets and contribute to the growth of product lines, including piping systems through direct and partner channels.
  • Represent the business at customer sites, trade events, expos, and presentations through frequent travel.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to align offerings and strategies.
  • Present sales outcomes and pipeline forecasts to senior management during reviews and strategic meetings.


Requirements: Qualification and Skill


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar sales or leadership role.
  • Experience in selling and supplying plant and/ or equipment into the mining, construction and/or similar industries.
  • Strong track record in achieving sales targets and managing customer accounts across complex markets.
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring a team of Business Development Managers or sales staff.
  • Diploma/Degree is advantageous.
  • Mining industry experience is highly advantageous.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across the region; vaccination-ready as required.
