Job Description:

Our client is a mining company currently in a transformative phase in a mining expansion project, injecting a capital infusion of approximately US$400 million. The venture encompasses building a new plant, multiple shafts, and expanding resources. The pivotal role of Head of ESH (Environment, Safety, and Health) entails overseeing underground operations with a strong emphasis on environmental elements, aligning with surface aspects like tailings.



  • Oversee and implement robust environmental management practices, with a focus on surface operations such as tailings management.
  • Develop and execute strategies to minimize the environmental impact of mining activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international environmental regulations.
  • Provide leadership in safety and health initiatives, promoting a strong safety culture across all mining operations.
  • Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Utilize extensive underground mining experience to enhance safety protocols and practices in sub-vertical shafts.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to integrate safety measures in underground activities.


Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Ideally Degree Qualified in Safety, Risk or Environmental Management
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental, safety, and health roles within the mining industry.
  • Relevant Environmental and Safety certifications (ISO, Nebosh and similar)
  • Previous experience with Surface  (Tailings , Plant, Infrastructure etc) and Underground operations.
  • Proven track record of managing environmental responsibilities, with emphasis on underground operations.
