Our client, a tin operation in the DRC is seeking a Cargo Operations Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the entire process of cargo handling, including bag filling, sealing, container loading and dispatching. The incumbent will have to insure the smooth and efficient operation of cargo operations while providing accurate reporting and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the inspection of all cargoes at the logistics hub near the mine, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Oversee the bag filling process, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to procedures.
• Supervise the sealing of bags to maintain cargo integrity and security.
• Monitor and supervise the loading of bags into containers on trucks, ensuring proper handling, secure placement, and optimal space utilization.
• Coordinate the sealing of containers to prevent tampering during transportation.
• Prepare comprehensive reports detailing the entire process from bag filling to truck loading, including relevant information, observations, and photographs.
• Collaborate with representatives to gather and provide accurate and timely information regarding cargo operations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior staff members, ensuring their understanding of procedures and adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain a good understanding of WSMD (Weighing, Sampling, and Moisture Determination) procedures.
• Address any discrepancies, damages, or irregularities observed during inspections and escalate issues as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Facilitate effective communication between different teams and stakeholders involved in cargo operations.
• Utilize computer skills to prepare reports, maintain records, and handle documentation.
• Train and develop the skills of team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Proven experience in cargo operations, logistics, or a related field, with a strong understanding of the processes involved.
• Effective communication skills in English, French, Lingala, and Swahili, both written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
• Proficient computer skills for report preparation, record keeping, and documentation.
• Thorough knowledge of WSMD (Weighing, Sampling, and Moisture Determination) procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members, stakeholders, and other departments.
